Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya, the Real Federación Española Deportes de Invierno and the Federació Catalana d’Esports d’Hivern are promoting a training day with the aim of improving active and passive safety on training slopes.

This plan will consist of three distinct phases, which will include a face-to-face day in Barcelona, an online training day and, to conclude, a technical practice on snow at one of FGC's ski and mountain resorts.

Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC), the Real Federación Española Deportes de Invierno (RFEDI) and the Federació Catalana d’Esports d’Hivern (FCEH), have promoted a series of conferences with the aim of offering technical and sports training to improve the active and passive safety of training and competition slopes, host high-level competitions, as well as other challenges that arise within the winter sports ecosystem.

Spain is a country with a solid competitive tradition and of hosting major continental and international events. This new project aligns with the RFEDI's strategic plan for the ski resorts in the state. Along these lines, FGC is committed to consolidating and further promoting snow sports in its resorts, following the successful trajectory of recent years.

This training will be structured in three phases. The first of these will take place on October 8 and 9 in Barcelona and will consist of professional conferences on preparation, safety and innovation in training and competition slopes, aimed at clubs, regional federations or ski resorts with the application of innovative tools for the improvement and development of practices on the slopes. These conferences, hosted by FGC, aim to create a space for the exchange of knowledge for all professionals involved in the preparation and safety of competition and training slopes.

Secondly, an online training course will be held during the month of November 2025, in which topics related to the preparation of ski slopes, slope treading technology and practical cases will be covered, all linked to competition stadiums.

Finally, as an extra practice, a technical exercise will be carried out on the ground in one of the FGC ski and mountain resorts, with the aim of applying all the knowledge acquired during this project, both in the face-to-face and virtual sessions.

The president of FGC, Carles Ruiz, highlights Ferrocarrils' commitment to sport, both in winter and summer, as well as the desire to always be at the forefront of the latest technological advances in the world of competition. “We continue to bet on continuous improvement, on safety plans on our slopes and on excellent training for our staff, with the aim of being a benchmark for other ski resorts. In this sense, it is essential to have allies such as the Spanish and Catalan federations.”

For his part, the president of the RFEDI, May Peus España, highlights that “when institutions such as FGC, FCEH and RFEDI join forces, we manage to multiply the opportunities for our athletes and for the entire snow ecosystem. Safety, training and the ability to attract international events are three pillars that reinforce our commitment to the present and future of winter sports in Spain”.

Finally, David Samper, president of the Federació Catalana d'Esports d'Hivern, specifies that “training is a challenge for the three institutions, since we have the duty to transfer the knowledge we have acquired in the organization of international events to all the people who can collaborate for their improvement. This training allows us to take a step forward in the organization of international events and shows that, when the institutions are aligned, any initiative is positive for the development of winter sports”.

This collaboration seeks to give new impetus to snow sports with the great objective of attracting high-level competitions to the state's ski slopes, such as those managed by FGC, and improving safety practices on the slopes.
