The president of Ferrocarrils, Carles Ruiz Novella, and the International president of the SCIJ of Journalists, Frederick Wallace, signed the agreement on October 20 to hold the 2026 annual meeting at the FGC mountain station.

The Boí Taüll mountain resort, owned by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC), will host the 71st World Ski Journalists Meeting in the first week of March 2026, an event that will bring together around 120 reporters from 32 countries at the resort and in the Boí Valley.

The president of Ferrocarrils, Carles Ruiz Novella, and the Canadian journalist and president of the Ski Club International des Journalistes (SCIJ) Frederick Wallace, signed the agreement this morning to hold this meeting, which will be the sixth time it has been held in Catalonia. For Ruiz, “the annual SCIJ meeting is an opportunity to promote and give more visibility to the Boí Taüll resort, which in recent years has positioned itself worldwide as the host of various international ski mountaineering events”. “I am sure that this event will provide opportunities for both institutions”, he added.

Program Highlights
During this meeting, the organization's Annual General Assembly will be held and educational seminars and media briefings will be conducted, led by experts in various fields. The sessions will also address current issues of interest to the international journalistic community. In addition, all attendees to the event will participate in a slalom race and a Nordic skiing competition (both FIS) as stipulated in the club's statutes.

Activities to be carried out during the meeting will include meetings with local personalities, visits to the Romanesque churches circuit recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and other points of interest throughout the Boí Valley. These experiences will generate extensive media coverage of the area for global audiences.

"We are delighted to bring the SCIJ meeting to such an extraordinary destination," said Frederick Wallace, President of SCIJ International. "The cultural heritage of the Boí Valley, combined with its natural beauty and sporting traditions, offers our members an inspiring environment to connect, exchange ideas and share stories with a global reach. This collaboration reflects the SCIJ's commitment to exploring unique places that enrich our professional community". He also added: "After having inspected the region and having experienced the place first-hand over the last two days, I can confirm that it fully meets our expectations for hosting this event."

About Boí Taüll
Boí Taüll is located in one of the most complete places in the Catalan Pyrenees, at the gates of the Ribagorça slope of the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park, in its western part and has the highest skiable elevation in the Pyrenees (maximum elevation of 2,751 m and minimum elevation of 2,035 m). At a competitive level, it is recognized worldwide for mountain skiing as it has hosted the European Championship in this discipline in 2022 and the World Cup in 2023, 2024 and 2025 and will also do so this 2026, in what will be the last major ski mountaineering event just before the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, where this discipline will be an Olympic event for the first time.

About the SCIJ
The Ski Club International des Journalistes (SCIJ) is an independent, apolitical and non-profit international association founded in 1955 by the French journalist Gilles de la Roque during the Cold War, to foster dialogue between journalists from the Eastern Bloc and the Western Hemisphere. Today, the SCIJ includes a network of more than 1,000 journalists from 32 member countries and is headquartered in Brussels.

The organization promotes friendship, cultural relations and professional exchanges between journalists who share a passion for the mountains and the winter sports through annual meetings in ski resorts with journalistic debates and ski competitions. The Spanish section of SCIJ, a member since 1966 and currently chaired by Catalan journalist Goyo Prados, will coordinate this meeting in 2026.
